Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how MatchupOdds, operated by Jagan Worldwide Games ("Jagan", "we", "our", "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you visit or use https://matchupodds.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
The Site is intended for residents of the United States who are of legal age to wager in their state of residence. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Data We Collect
We collect a limited set of data necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Site.
- Analytics events: page views, link clicks, time on page, and similar interaction signals.
- Network metadata: IP address (truncated where possible), user agent, referrer URL, and the URL of the page you are visiting.
- Cookie preferences: the choices you make in our cookie banner (essential, analytics, advertising).
- Age verification timestamp: when you confirm you are of legal wagering age, we store the confirmation in your browser so you don't need to repeat it on each visit.
- Affiliate click tracking: when you click a sportsbook link from the Site, we record the destination operator, the market you were viewing (moneyline, spread, total, prop), the event identifier, your approximate US state (derived from your IP address via Cloudflare's CF-Region header), and a timestamp. We use this data to understand which sportsbooks and markets are most useful to visitors, to comply with state-level affiliate marketing regulations (the per-state affiliate guard added in v1.7.5 needs your state at click time to apply the right routing), and to count clicks by outcome (affiliate-routed, dormant-fallback, state-blocked) for compliance reporting. We do not store the underlying IP address; only the derived two-letter state code is logged. The data is anonymous and is not associated with your identity.
- Newsletter email: if you subscribe to our newsletter, the email address you submit.
How We Use It
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
- To measure traffic and understand which features and content are most useful.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
- To send the newsletter to subscribers who opt in.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies in three tiers, which you can control through our cookie banner:
- Essential: required for the Site to function (for example, remembering your age verification and cookie preferences). Always on.
- Analytics: helps us measure usage and improve the Site. Off by default until you opt in.
- Advertising: may be used by partners to show personalized ads. Off by default until you opt in.
See our Cookie Policy for more detail on the specific cookies used.
Third-Party Services
The Site relies on the following categories of third-party services. Each handles only the data needed to perform its function.
- Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, and DDoS protection.
- Google Analytics 4 for traffic measurement (property ID G-6F0E4FNFRM). The Google tag library loads on every page in a default-denied state per Google Consent Mode v2. No analytics cookies are set and no events are recorded until you accept the Analytics category in our cookie banner. IP addresses are anonymised before storage (
anonymize_ipenabled) so Google receives a truncated IP, not your full address. You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie banner; the next page load no longer collects analytics events. See Google's privacy policy for details on Google's handling of the data we send. - Resend for newsletter delivery, used only if you subscribe.
- Third-party sports data providers for the odds and props comparison data shown on the Site. We do not share user data with these providers.
- Advertising networks, where applicable, only after you grant advertising consent.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- The right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We do not sell personal information for monetary compensation. We may "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as that term is defined under the CPRA. To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, set your cookie preferences to decline advertising cookies via our cookie banner, or email [email protected].
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days as required by CCPA.
European Visitors (GDPR Awareness)
The Site is intended for residents of the United States and is not directed at residents of the European Union, United Kingdom, or European Economic Area. If you are accessing the Site from one of those jurisdictions, you understand that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 may not apply in the manner you expect because we are not established in those jurisdictions and do not target individuals there.
If you nonetheless wish to exercise data-subject rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection), email [email protected]. We will respond on a good-faith basis to the extent practicable.
Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover that we have inadvertently received information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, contact [email protected].
Data Retention
- Analytics events: up to 26 months from collection.
- Cookie preferences: stored locally in your browser until you clear them.
- Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect data, including TLS in transit, restricted access to systems, and secret management for credentials. No system is fully secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
International Users and Geographic Restrictions
The Site is operated from the United States and is intended for residents of the United States. Per the v1.7.5 international compliance pass, access from the following jurisdictions is restricted at the Cloudflare edge with an HTTP 451 (Unavailable For Legal Reasons) response: the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, and 28 European Economic Area member states. See the /unavailable explainer page for the full country list and rationale.
Visitors from non-restricted countries outside the United States can access the Site, but should understand that the Site is not directed at them and that their information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in their jurisdiction. We do not solicit business outside the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
